As part of Intel’s global rebrand to showcase their ability to integrate technology to Do Something Wonderful, they created a way for people living with motor neurone disease to bank their voice.

The book was created to help record and keep their voices. The technology ensures they can always sound like themselves to their loved ones.

Storybook recordings are turned into digital voices that can be used as assistive speech. This voice banking technology helps preserves a very important part of who you someone is to continue sharing themselves with their family and friends.

More than 80% of those living with motor neurone disease (MND) develop difficulties with their speech. It affects how they talk, their identity, and their sense of self. Technology is enhancing their ability to live as themselves.

Intel and Dell Technologies, in partnership with Rolls-Royce and the Motor Neurone Disease Association, are working together to ensure that more people have access to these innovations.

This world-first voice banking storybook was a seamless combination of writing, illustration, design, and technology, and recruited award-winning artist Nicholas Stevenson to illustrate the book, and New York Times bestselling author Jill Twiss to write the book’s story.

The result is an emotive, warm, aesthetically calming, and purposeful publication.
